Climate

One of the essential factors of the climate in Palestine is the sun, in summer as in winter. The climate is generally temperate with some variations depending on the region and altitude. If the days are hot or moderately warm for the entire year, the nights can be extremely fresh even in the summer. It should not be forgotten that most of the towns in the West Bank are at an altitude of about 800 m. It is important always to take suitable clothing.

Winter is a season which can be rainy, but the rain never lasts for more than a few days. The spring sometimes brings hot winds which blow volatile sand storms from the Egyptian desert and the Saudi Arabian peninsula: this is the khamsin. Thus, temperatures remain cool at night in summer and during much of the winter, despite regular sunshine.
